Companies House
Every UK limited company files with Companies House as well as HMRC. TaxMTD keeps the two in step from the Compliance area.
Company information#
Enter the company number once and TaxMTD pulls the registered details from Companies House: registered office, incorporation date, accounting reference date, next accounts and confirmation statement due dates, and the current officers.
Key deadlines#
| Filing | Due |
|---|---|
| Confirmation statement (CS01) | Every 12 months from the last statement date, 14 days to file |
| Annual accounts | 9 months after the accounting reference date |
| Corporation Tax payment | 9 months and 1 day after the year end |
| CT600 return | 12 months after the year end |
The deadlines appear on the Compliance dashboard and in the filing reminder emails.
Annual accounts#
The Annual accounts page assembles the year's figures from your transactions into the statutory format: profit and loss, balance sheet, and the notes a micro entity or small company needs.
Filing final accounts#
Submit Final Accounts walks through the online filing:
- Check you can file online (micro entity or small company, not dormant with charges, no audit required).
- Double check the figures against the accounts page.
- Enter your Companies House authentication code.
- File. The submission and its Companies House reference are recorded in Filing History.
The Corporation Tax return (CT600) goes to HMRC, not Companies House. It is filed from Making Tax Digital > CT600 with the same figures.
